Solar Panel Installation Process

Solar Panel Installation Process

Solar panel installation is one of the services we offer – here’s some more information about the process.

Installing Solar PV on your roof or land will not only have an effect on your carbon footprint but will reduce the need to draw your power directly from the grid – saving money on your energy bills. If the system is right for your needs, we could even fit a battery alongside your PV that will power your home or business during the night and charge up during the day when there is unused energy.

If you are considering installing solar panels in your home or business, then here at GBS Electrics we want to make this process as smooth and straightforward as possible. The first step would be to call us for an appointment so we can work out if solar panels are right for you. This means checking your property to make sure that it is suitable, it is suitable, and that we would be able to utilise the maximum amount of energy from them as possible. We will take into consideration the size of your property, the construction and condition of your roof (if applicable) and the orientation to the sun, then offer you your personalized estimation.

Once this initial appointment has been completed, if you are happy to proceed we will order the specific solar panels required as well as preparing the relevant documents and paperwork, then arrange a date for your installation. Once this day arrives, we will need to set up scaffolding in order to be able to work safely. We then install the solar panel mounts, which is what the panels are attached to, then begin to wire them up. We install the solar inverter and battery if required, then connect everything together and test it.

The process of solar panel installation should take around a day, although this can vary due to the size of your property. Whilst we are on-site, we maintain social distancing and wear PPE where necessary to keep both you and us safe during this process. We will also be happy to answer any questions you have about how the solar panels work, and how you can ensure you are getting as much out of them as you possibly can.
